Create your own Cartoon
for 5-7 year olds
with Lucy Jackson
Work together to invent an extraordinary alternative world, make fantastic characters from plasticine, card, wire and found objects and then use laptops and cameras to animate them. Lucy Jackson is a Visual Artist who really loves experimenting with materials. Her work includes collage, paintings, sculptures and short animated films. She really enjoys introducing people to the thrill of stopmotion animation a process which is endlessly fascinating. The animation will be put on a DVD which you will receive after the workshop.

The Kiss That Missed
A Play-in-a-Day for 5-7 year olds

Based on the story by David Melling. The king was in a hurry and blew his son a bedtime kiss?but it missed. The kiss flies out of the window, the prince is distraught and the hapless knight is sent into the deep dark forest to fetch the kiss back. What will he encounter there? Find out as you bring this enchanting story to life using physical theatre and expressive movement under the expert guidance of experienced drama practitioner and Youth Theatre Director Rob Pudner and Sarah Pester. 20 places are available for this fun filled, action packed day. The Saddest King
A Play-in-a-Day for 8-12 year olds based on the story by Chris Wormell.

Once there was a country where happiness was compulsory. One day a small boy breaks the law-he cries! He is taken straight to the king who, it is said, is the happiest person in the land. Can the boy convince the king that it's all right to be sad sometimes? All will be revealed as you explore this touching and uplifting story using a variety of dramatic techniques. Work with Youth Theatre Director Rob Pudner and Sarah Pester to create an original piece of theatre whilst having lots of fun and developing your skills. Bring plenty of enthusiasm, imagination and a packed lunch (with plenty of drink) 30 places available.

Are you aged between 12 and 18 years old? Do you like drama and performing? Do you enjoy improvising? Do you fancy playing the part of a swashbuckling pirate as part of a very special character treasure hunt? If your answer to these questions is yes then hoist the mainsail and head to The Plough Arts Centre where under the guidance of Rob Pudner you will learn to develop a character, improve your improvisational skills and as a team, devise a salty story of buccaneers and adventures on the high seas. You will need to be available for both days and be prepared to sork hard and have lots of fun as you prepare to perform a play in a most unusual way that for the audience is all part of a game! Dust of your eye patch and bandana and start practicing your best pirate voice!

From the creative team that brought you "...and All That Jazz!", comes another opportunity to get your groove on, be a drama queen (or king!) and sing your hearts out! Yes, Helen Venn (Choreographer), Rob Pudner (Drama Practitioner) and Alan Boxer (Musical Director) are joining forces once again to offer 13-18 year olds an insight into the world of musical theatre looking at excerpts from popular musicals including Grease, CATS and Les Miserables. Working with Helen, participants will be tightly choreographed into audience pleasing dance numbers whilst Alan finely tunes those vocal chords to get the best from your voices. Rob will focus on various script selections directing you to release your dramatic potential. All the hard work will culminate in a sharing performance to family and friends on the third day. Harmonic Temple singing workshop
with Nickomo and Rasullah Clarke
Nickomo is a composer, arranger, and leader of community choirs and voice groups. Rasullah also leads a choir and singing groups. You will be singing mostly four-part harmony chants using texts taken from mantras and sayings from different world religions, or universal affirmations of wholeness. When singing these chants in a group the feeling is both uplifting and inspiring as if one is participating in a living temple of sound. This is 'The Harmonic Temple'. No experience is necessary, the parts are all taught orally and individuals support each other with holding the harmonies.
